Ever feel like the second sleeve takes a century to finish?
Here is a game-changing knitting hack to save you time:
knit BOTH sleeves at the same time on one long cable!
How to do it successfully:
1) Equipment needed: Use at least 80cm knitting cable with the needle size requited. Avoid 60cm cables to give yourself enough room to knit comfortably.
- Grab the first yarn ball: Cast on the full number of stitches required for the first sleeve.
- Grab the second yarn ball: Directly next to the first set of stitches, cast on half number of stitches for the second sleeve on the same needle using the second ball of yarn.
- Slide and fold: Slide all the stitches to the center of your circular needle cable. Find the halfway point of the stitches for the first sleeve and fold the cable in half so the stitches divide to the front and back. Do the exact same folding process for the second sleeve, and cast on the remaining stitches before joining them in a round to knit. I used this videofor my learnings.
2) The Prep: Master the basic magic loop technique first.
3)The Focus: Watch your loops carefully so they do not twist.
4)The Count: Keep track of which stitches belong to which sleeve, especially for lace patterns!
This trick completely cures Second Sleeve Syndrome and gets your projects off the needles faster.
